Holiday Update

Yeah so its been a while since I've posted. Things sure haven't gotten any less busy over the last few weeks with trips from both of us to KC and Chicago (independant of each other) Progress has been slow on both homefronts, which the window trim 2 windows from being done in the South home, to cleaning started on the North home. Construction is scheduled to start in a week on the new front porch, with the roof right behind. Its going to be a slow task getting the house ready to live in, but there is no real rush, other then having 2 mortgage payments for a while.

Addison continues to grow and has been really good, but he does like going to all his doctors still. We have yet another referal to Iowa City now, this one to look at his kidney to try to find an answer to his high blood pressure. We are hoping its nothing major, as his overall health is really good so that pointa to just a small artery somewhere that may need attention. Hopefully they can find it without too much more worry. Other then that, all is good. Addison has just started on cereal last night. He didn't mind it at all. I think he's just happy to be able to have something on a spoon for him. He also has been figuring out how a cup works, which he also likes. Current stats are 16lbs 4ozs, 26 1/4" long with 2 teeth.

And now, pictures from last night (food) and this morning (happy)

My head hurts..

So I should own another house now, but I don't. Its the city's fault. Turns out that letter we saw to the bank owner of the list of stuff to fix makes it "substandard" and "unfit" and all that bull*&#@. Which our bank has an issue with that we found out about at 10am today, 4 hrs from closing. Fast forward a few hours and after many phone calls to the attorney, bank, real estate agent, city, and us; we get something figured out that the city guy will take off the substandard tag knowing we will fix it. So he faxes his letter saying he is going to take it off the sellers status, but also states he's going to put it back on us. Which defeats the purpose of the letter. And of course he's gone for the day so we can't get him to re-fax a letter only saying he'll take it off. We have no issues fixing all the stuff, esp since I have contractors lined up waiting for me to own it so they can start. But they can't start until I buy it, and I can't buy it until its fixed. Must find my advil. So here we are with no house, with over 2k riding on this. Pain in the ass I say. Hopefully tomorrow will bring better news.
If anyone have $45k i can borrow for about 60 days, give me a call...

So much to do, so little time

T-minus 6 days to closing on the Casa de Ponce. So I put off talking to the insurance company assuming I would have no problems, since hey, I bought this one fine, and go to find out they won't give me a policy unless I have contracts in hand for some of the work I had planned to do shortly after aquiring it. Projects including updating the electrical systems, repairing the leaning front porch, and last, but not least, getting a new roof put on. So I have (had) 6 days to get these contracts, when I had only gotten 0 (zero, nadda) bids on the jobs. Makes sense to me tho, why have contacts on a house I don't own just yet. Well that all changed. Altho I still don't have any bids and/or contracts, I do however have people lined up to give me these required papers. Now I just have to hope they don't cost more then I'm thinking they might. Can you say goodbye bank account, hello Visa.
All that aside, we close 2pm Thursday. Then the tree killin begins. Anyone that wants to play lumberjack, just let me know. Red checkered flannel required. And yes Chris, you can come and take part in some remodeling work. You pick the project, and odds are I'm going to do it.
